BASEBALL Empire Baseball League: The independent developmental EBL started its 2025 season this week with five teams each playing 32 to 35 games through August 4, 2025. All of last season's teams called the Saranac Lake Surge, Malone Border Hounds, Tupper Lake Riverpigs and North Country Thunderbirds (Plattsburgh) from upper New York State have returned and the league added a new travel-only team called the Los Angeles Bullies for the 2025 season. Sandlin, Troye, and Brand Toss Combined No-Hitter against RubberDucks

EL Portland Sea Dogs Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs (34-33) tossed a combined no-hitter against the Akron RubberDucks (43-25) 10-0 on Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Park in front of 6,868 fans, the ninth sellout crowd of the season. Sea Dogs RHP David Sandlin (4-3, 3.90 ERA) received the win, tossing six scoreless innings while tying his season-high strikeout total of nine. RHP Christopher Troye added two innings of shutout ball in relief. LHP Jonathan Brand closed the game, hurling one inning while tallying two strikeouts. Bulls Sweep Storm Chasers with 7-6 Triumph

IL Durham Bulls PAPILLION, NE - Bulls shortstop Carson Williams blasted a go-ahead home run in the seventh, while left fielder Chandler Simpson clubbed two hits and stole two bases as Durham finished off a six-game series sweep with a 7-6 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Sunday evening at Werner Park. After Tristan Peters opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first, Jamie Westbrook clubbed a run-scoring double and scored on Chandler Simpson's single in the second to make it 3-0.
