Former Rox Outfielder Friedl Makes MLB Debut with Reds

Northwoods St. Cloud Rox September 20, 2021 - St. Cloud, MN - Former St. Cloud Rox outfielder TJ Friedl made his Major League debut on Saturday, September 18th for the Cincinnati Reds. Friedl, 26, entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the Reds 5-1 loss to the Dodgers in the eighth inning against reliever Joe Kelly, he popped out to the middle of the infield. Friedl got his first major league hit on September 19th. As a pinch-hitter, Friedl took the first pitch he saw from Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin and hit a home run to rightfield. Northwoods September 20, 2021 - Rochester, Minn. - Former Fond du Lac Dock Spider Nick Fortes, made his Major League debut for the Miami Marlins on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Fortes is the 272nd former Northwoods League player and the first Dock Spider to reach the Major League level. Fortes, who played collegiately at the University of Mississippi, played for the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in 2017. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Marlins. Northwoods Willmar Stingers September 17, 2021 - Willmar, Minn. - The Willmar Stingers have announced today that General Manager Nick McCallum will be stepping down and leaving the organization at the end of September. McCallum has been the only general manager since the team's inaugural season in 2010 and began his career in Northwoods League as an intern in 2009.
