Both teams entered the contest at 7-6, tied for second place in the Great Lakes East Division. With the win, Royal Oak moved one game ahead of Traverse City and into sole possession of second place.

June 5, 2026 - Traverse City, MI - Gannon Grundman, Bryce Suitor, and Jake Brown combined for a two-hit shutout of the Kalamazoo Growlers, as the Traverse City Pit Spitters clinched a sweep with a 2-0 Game 2 win on Fireworks Friday at Turtle Creek Stadium, evening their record at 6-6.

June 4, 2026 - Traverse City, MI - In the opener of the second 131 Rivalry Series of the 2026 summer, the Traverse City Pit Spitters sent a crowd of 4,082 fans home happy after an early 11:05 a.m. start, walking off the Kalamazoo Growlers 11-10 in 10 innings at Turtle Creek Stadium.
The hero was freshman Wofford outfielder Noah Gerrick, who delivered the game-winning hit to cap off a three-hit, three-RBI afternoon.
