Komets Extend Series with 4-1 Win
May 31, 2026 - The Komets faced elimination on Sunday at the Coliseum in game 5 of the Western Conference Final.
In the first period, the Komets struck twice, with goals from Alex Aleardi and Jalen Smereck, giving the Komets a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Matt Capponi extended the Komet lead to three with a goal at 2:40 of the second period with an assist to Matt Brown. Later in the period, with Jalen Smereck in the penalty box, the Mavericks got on the board at 15:14 to make it a 3-1 game.

Jay McKee Named Hamilton Hammers Head Coach
May 31, 2026 - The New York Islanders announced today that Jay McKee has been named Head Coach of the Hamilton Hammers, the Islanders new American Hockey League affiliate.
McKee, 48, takes over as the first Head Coach in Hamilton's history. He has spent the past three years as Head Coach of the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League. Last season, McKee led the Brantford to the best record in the OHL (48-10-8-2). McKee has been with the Bulldogs' organization for the past five seasons, posting an overall record of 213-91-36. Colorado Nets Four Goals in Third Period to Even Series at 1-1
May 30, 2026 - LOVELAND, CO. - Colorado scored four goals in the final five minutes of the game to bounce back from a 2-1 deficit and defeat the Chicago Wolves 5-2 in Game Two of the Western Conference Final. The win now ties the best-of-seven series at 1-1. Eagles forward T.J. Tynan picked up three assists in the victory, while fellow forwards T.J. Hughes and Tristen Nielsen each notched a goal and an assist. Goaltender Trent Miner improved to 9-3 in the postseason, making 13 saves on 15 shots.
