Sandis Vilmanis Building off NHL, Olympic Experience to Stand out in Charlotte

April 13, 2026 - Sandis Vilmanis has been a busy man. His second pro season has seen him star for the Checkers, debut in the NHL and represent his home country at the Olympics, all in the span of six months. April 12, 2026 - CHARLOTTE, NC - The Checkers bounced back in a big way Sunday afternoon, beating down the Bears 6-1 behind a historic performance from Sandis Vilmanis. The Latvian forward lit the lamp four times across the contest - once to start the second period, once to end the second period and twice in a two-minute span in the third - to set a new high-water mark in the franchise's history. Checkers Announce First-Round Playoff Schedule

April 11, 2026 - CHARLOTTE, NC- The Charlotte Checkers today announced the schedule for their First Round Calder Cup Playoff series. The entirety of the best-of-three series will be played at Bojangles Coliseum against a to-be-determined opponent beginning on Wednesday, April 22.
