Bison Ink Goaltender Jake Barczewski

August 21, 2025 - Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington Bison Head Coach, Phillip Barski, announced today that the team has signed goaltender Jake Barczewski to an ECHL standard player contract. Barczewski, 26, appeared in 40 games with the Utah Grizzles last season posting a 16-15-3 record with a .902 save percentage and a 3.49 goals against average. August 18, 2025 - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that Cristiano Simonetta has joined the team as its new Director of Broadcasting and Communications. Starting with the season opener on Oct. 11, Simonetta will provide play-by-play commentary of all Checkers games, home and away, across the Checkers media network. August 15, 2025 - Evan Cormier is returning to the organization via a one-year, one-way AHL contract. The 27-year-old netminder handled the bulk of the workload for Charlotte's ECHL affiliate in Savannah last season, going 17-13-4 with a 3.38 goals-against average and an .887 save percentage. Over his career, the 2016 fourth-round pick by New Jersey has played in 59 AHL games and logged a 21-27-9 record with a 3.18 goals-against average and an .894 save percentage. August 14, 2025 - The Panthers announced today that they have agreed to terms with Mike Benning on a one-year, two-way contract. The 23-year-old defenseman - who was a restricted free agent - ranked second on Charlotte's blue line in goals and points last season, putting up 32 points (9g, 23a) in 54 games. Benning also led team defensemen in postseason scoring with nine points in 18 games and tied for second on the team overall with five playoff goals.
