Joe Thurston to Manage the Mahoning Valley Scrappers for the 2026 Season

March 17, 2026 - NILES, OH - Former Major Leaguer, Joe Thurston, has been named Manager for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers for the 2026 season. Thurston was selected in the 4th round in the 1999 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Thurston carved out a 7-year career in MLB, spending time with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-2004), Philadelphia Phillies (2006), Boston Red Sox (2008), St. Louis Cardinals (2009), and the Florida Marlins (2011). March 13, 2026 - NILES, OH - For decades, stories have echoed through the woods and backroads of Northeast Ohio about a mysterious creature known as the Grassman, a towering, hairy giant said to roam the forests and fields of the region. State College Spikes Respond to Penn State Lawsuit

March 6, 2026 - Since August, Penn State has been engaged in a calculated effort to drive the State College Spikes out of business. On March 3rd, the University filed a baseless lawsuit after its attempt to bulldoze the Spikes failed. There is zero merit to Penn State's lawsuit or its allegations.
