Gavin McKenna Named the CHL David Branch Player of the Year

WHL Medicine Hat Tigers June 13, 2025 - TORONTO, ON - The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) is proud to unveil its 2024-25 award winners (see full list of winners below), headlined by 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna of the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL), who was named the CHL David Branch Player of the Year at a ceremony held Friday at the Delta Hotels Toronto. At just 17 years, 5 months, and 24 days old, Gavin McKenna becomes the third-youngest recipient of the CHL's David Branch Player of the Year Award. Lumberjacks Add Skilled Forward, Melvin Novotny

USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks June 13, 2025 - MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced the addition of Swedish-born forward Melvin Novotny to the roster Friday afternoon. The 2007 birth year is a top prospect for the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft. A native of Taby, Sweden, Novotny has worn the Tre Kroner "three crowns" each of the last three seasons, including 26 games on the Under-18 team this season. In international play, Novotny picked up 8 goals and 10 assists in his 26 games. At the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, Novotny had 3 points in 4 games, earning a bronze medal.... Full Story

Landon DuPont Named CHL Rookie of the Year

WHL Everett Silvertips June 13, 2025 - TORONTO, Ont. - Landon DuPont of the Everett Silvertips became the second-youngest player to win the CHL Rookie of the Year Award, claiming the honour at just 16 years and 16 days old on Friday. He stands behind only John Tavares, who won the award at 15 years, 8 months, and 7 days. The 16-year-old from Calgary, Alta., is the first blueliner in 30 years - and just the third in CHL history after Philippe Boucher (1990-91) and Bryan Berard (1994-95) - to earn the honour. Matthew Schaefer Named CHL Top Prospect at 2025 CHL Awards

OHL Erie Otters June 13, 2025 - Erie, Pennsylvania -- It has already been quite a busy summer for one of the NHL's top prospects and his trophy cabinet continues to fill up. At the 2025 CHL Awards in Toronto Friday, Otters defenseman Matthew Schaefer was presented with the CHL Top Prospect Award presented by Kubota Canada. The 17-year-old Stoney Creek, ON native becomes the second Otter to win this award after Connor McDavid was the recipient in 2015.
