Komets Co-Owner Bill Franke Passes Away
Fort Wayne, IN - Komets co-owner Bill Franke died in Fort Wayne on July 10 at the age of 85. He leaves behind a lasting legacy with the team.
After the Komets relocated to Albany, New York, in 1990, Bill and his brothers Steve, Michael, David, and Richard quickly acted to keep professional hockey in Fort Wayne. (NAPLES, FL) - FC Naples has appointed Zak Gordon as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2026 Season. Gordon has served as the First Assistant Coach since February of 2025.
"Zak Gordon has been on the field with FC Naples' First Team since our first season, helping the team achieve its historic 2025 USL League One campaign. We're confident in his leadership as the team moves forward," said Roberto Moreno, CEO of FC Naples.

Furious Five-Run First Propels Captains to 8-7 Win over Lugnuts
EASTLAKE, Ohio - In Game 3 of a six-game series, the Lake County Captains (47-33, 11-6) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (33-49, 4-14) by a final score of 8-7 on Thursday night at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake.
Despite a furious late Lugnut comeback, the difference in the game came in the first inning, as the Captains offense plated five runs on six hits, five of which went for extra bases.
Before Lake County could step up to the plate, Lansing jumped on the board first when 1B Jared Sprague-Lott launched a leadoff home run to give the Lugnuts an early 1-0 lead.

River Bandits Explode for 18 Runs, 19 Hits in Seventh Consecutive Win
Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits (40-40, 10-7) extended their win-streak to a season-best seven games and slugged their way to an 18-8 victory over the Peoria Chiefs (38-45, 6-11) on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
The River Bandits' 18 runs and 19 hits both marked season-highs. Quad Cities has now out-scored Peoria 42-16 through the first three games of the six-game series.
