Fort Wayne, IN - Komets co-owner Bill Franke died in Fort Wayne on July 10 at the age of 85. He leaves behind a lasting legacy with the team. After the Komets relocated to Albany, New York, in 1990, Bill and his brothers Steve, Michael, David, and Richard quickly acted to keep professional hockey in Fort Wayne. Furious Five-Run First Propels Captains to 8-7 Win over Lugnuts

EASTLAKE, Ohio - In Game 3 of a six-game series, the Lake County Captains (47-33, 11-6) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (33-49, 4-14) by a final score of 8-7 on Thursday night at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake. Despite a furious late Lugnut comeback, the difference in the game came in the first inning, as the Captains offense plated five runs on six hits, five of which went for extra bases. Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits (40-40, 10-7) extended their win-streak to a season-best seven games and slugged their way to an 18-8 victory over the Peoria Chiefs (38-45, 6-11) on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
