March 9, 2026 - Growing up playing softball or baseball, there was a stereotype about right field. It's often where the youngest or weakest player on the team is stuck in an attempt to avoid seeing any defensive action. But as the level of the game progresses, right field becomes the position with one of the strongest arms on the field. Often, they're a power bat too.

Sports executive Reid Ryan spoke boldly about his enthusiasm for the Texas Volts in Round Rock at the team's press conference last month. And for good reason - the Volts' home field at Dell Diamond is an anomaly compared to the other five facilities in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League.

March 2, 2026 - James Madison University announced the 2026 Hall of Fame Class that will honor seven athletes, including softball standout Jailyn Ford.
Ford was a two-way star for the Dukes from 2013-2016, who changed the direction of the program and was one of many firsts. In her four seasons, the program was 185-48 (.794) compared to the previous decade of a winning percentage just above .500.

She's referencing a tee, the piece of baseball and softball equipment most people take their first swing off of. It's a foundational part of learning the mechanics of hitting and the earliest form of development to play.
