NC Courage Acquire Forward Payton Linnehan from Portland Thorns

NWSL North Carolina Courage CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage today announced the acquisition of forward Payton Linnehan from the Portland Thorns in exchange for $48,000 in 2025 intra-league transfer funds. Linnehan has signed a fully guaranteed contract extension through the 2027 season, plus a mutual option for 2028. Linnehan, 24, was selected 11th overall by Portland in the first round of the 2024 NWSL Draft out of Penn State University. Marlins Send Left-Hander Weathers to Jumbo Shrimp on Rehab Assignment

IL Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Miami Marlins' left-hander Ryan Weathers will begin an injury rehabilitation assignment for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday against the Rochester Red Wings at VyStar Ballpark. Weathers was placed on the 60-day injured list on June 9 with a left lat strain. Thus far with the Marlins, the lefty has made five starts going 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA. In 24.2 innings, he's allowed 12 runs (nine earned) on 18 hits with eight walks against 23 strikeouts. He's held opponents to a mere .196 batting average. Emeralds Secure 2nd Half Northwest League Championship

NWL Eugene Emeralds EVERETT, WA - The Emeralds defeated the Everett AquaSox by a final score of 10-4. With the win tonight Eugene has clinched the 2nd Half in the NWL and will be heading back to the championship for the first time since 2022. Eugene now holds a 42-16 record in the 2nd half with 8 games remaining in the regular season. Eugene got out to an early lead in tonight's game.
