Peguero Hits Walk-Off Homer For Tides

IL Norfolk Tides NORFOLK, Va - The Norfolk Tides (27-38) defeated the Nashville Sounds (38-27), 8-7, in 10 innings on Thursday at Harbor Park. Fernando Peguero hit the walk-off three-run home run, extending the team winning streak to four wins. Nashville came in hot, scoring two runs in the first inning. In the third, Bobby Dalbec hit a solo home run to but the Sounds up 3-0. Norfolk scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, starting with Samuel Basallo's 14th home run of the season. The Michigan Panthers and the D.C Defenders punched their tickets to the United Football League Championship with road victories in the conference championship games last week. In the USFL Conference title game, Michigan defeated the defending champion Birmingham Stallions, 44-29, while the D.C Defenders took down the St. Louis Battlehawks, 36-18 in the XFL Conference Championship. AtL Staten Island FerryHawks STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Just hours after it was announced that teammate Jack Mahoney had his contract purchased by the Athletics, the Staten Island FerryHawks announced that right-handed pitcher and closer Tanner Andrews has been signed by the Minnesota Twins organization.
