Perez, Freeney and Baker Named OurSports Central UFL Players of the Week

Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez, St. Louis Battlehawks linebacker Travis Freeney, and D.C. Defenders cornerback Deandre Baker were named the OurSports Central United Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for week eight UFL season. Perez earned offensive player honors by completing 32 of 46 passes for 350 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, plus two carries for nine yards in the Renegades' 33-30 loss to the Defenders. His favorite targets were tight end Sal Cannela and wide receiver Deontay Burnett who each caught six... Full Story

BASEBALL Mavericks League: The independent Mavericks League started its 2025 season last weekend and again consists of four teams called the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Campesinos de Salem-Keizer, Salem Senators and Portland Mavericks. Each team will play a 48-game schedule through August 24, 2025, and all games will be played at Roto-Rooter Park, formerly Volcanoes Stadium, in Keizer (OR). Murray Gets Contract Picked up by Reds

AA Lincoln Saltdogs LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs have announced that right-handed pitcher Zachary Murray has had his contract purchased by the Cincinnati Reds organization. A 6'0" 195-pounder, Murray played in two games for the Saltdogs, this season, going 0-0 with a 3.85 ERA. In two appearances, he had one start, pitching 7.0 innings, giving up three earned runs off eight hits, struck out eleven batters and walked two. Saltdogs manager Brett Jodie commented on Murray.
