SWEEP Gaucher's OT Heroics Lifts Phantoms to Round 2
Allentown, PA - The Valley was Rallied to the fullest on Friday night with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms storming back to eliminate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in overtime 5-4. Jacob Gaucher provided the heroic touch only 2:17 into sudden-death overtime to claim the series. Tanner Laczynski scored two clutch tying goals in the third period to erase multiple deficits and ultimately force overtime. Knights Rally to Beat the 'Pigs 6-4 Friday
(ALLENTOWN, PA) - Center fielder Brett Phillips tripled home the go-ahead run in a two-run 10th inning to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 6-4 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Friday night from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. The win was Charlotte's third in four games against the IronPigs during the series. The win was also the team's eighth over their last 11 games. With the game tied at 4-4 after nine innings, the Knights went to work in extra innings. Columbus Blanks Birds 3-0 in Game One
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Breandan Colgan made 28 saves for his second playoff shutout and the Columbus River Dragons took Game One of the Continental Division Final from the Carolina Thunderbirds 3-0 on Friday night. Carolina opened the contest with a strong offensive push that saw Colgan make six or seven strong saves and get help from a goal post along the way to keep the game scoreless. Drillers Win Third Straight
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Drillers matched their longest winning streak of the season on Friday night by defeating the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 4-2 at ONEOK Field. Two swings of the bat made the difference for the Drillers as Austin Beck drove in two runs with a triple, and Griffin Lockwood-Powell drove in two more with a home run to fuel the victory. The win put the Drillers season record back over .500 at 10-9. They have now won six of seven meetings with the Naturals this season.
