St. Louis Battlehawks quarterback A.J. McCarron, San Antonio Brahmas safety Jordan Mosley, and Birmingham Stallions kicker Ramiz Ahmed were named the OurSports Central United Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the week four of the UFL season.
McCarron completed 35 of 45 passes for 222 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, while adding four runs for 23 yards in the Battlehawks' 32-17 victory over the Memphis Showboats. His favorite target, Jahcour Pearson, caught 10 of those passes for 70 yards and one touchdown.
McCarron starred for Alabama where he won three BCS Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2013. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he remained with Cincinnati from 2014 until 2017. In 2018 he spent time with the Oakland Raiders before catching on with the Houston Texans. On November 15, 2022 he was drafted by the XFL's St. Louis Battlehawks in the quarterback pool. After the 2023 XFL season he played in two games for the Bengals. McCarron re-signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on February 16, 2024.
Honorable mention goes to his teammate, running back Jacob Saylors who carried the ball 15 times for 103 yards, plus grabbed receptions for 19 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, Mosley totaled five tackles, one interception, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Brahmas' 19-9 victory over the Michigan Panthers.
Mosley played college football at Maryland, then with the XFL Houston Roughnecks in 2023. He was selected by the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL Dispersal Draft.
Houston Roughnecks defensive end Chris Odom earned honorable mention with three total tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in the Roughnecks' 17-9 win over the Arlington Renegades.
Ahmed connected on a game-winning, 46-yard field goal in the Stallions' 20-18 triumph over the D.C. Defenders. Ahmed, filling in for injured kicker Chris Blewitt, finished a perfect four-for-four on field goal attempts, with two from 46, plus kicks of 32 and 27 yards.
After his college days at Nevada, Ahmed played for the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers in 2022 connecting on 14 of 22 kicks. His longest one went for a USFL-record 61 yards. He then played in one game for the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
His game-winning kick kept the Stallions undefeated at 4-0.
