San Antonio Brahmas quarterback Chase Garbers, Birmigham Stallions cornerback Mark Gilbert and Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates were named the OurSports Central UFL Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the Week One of the UFL season.

Garbers completed 19 of 25 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the Brahmas' 27-12 victory over the D.C. Defenders.

Garbers played college football at California where he passed for 6,580 yards, 50 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He then spent time with the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 season.

Garbers sparked the Brahmas to an upset win over the D.C. Defenders:

Honorable mention goes to Michigan Panthers running back Wes Hills who ran for 85 yards on just 11 carries in the Panthers' win over the Battlehawks.

Gilbert finished with three total tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup in the Stallions' 27-14 win over the Arlington Renegades.

Gilbert played college football at Duke and took the field in eight games for the Detroit Lions in 2021. He spent last season with the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers leading the league with four interceptions, good for a spot on the All-USFL team. On January 19th he signed with Birmingham.

The Stallions' defense dominated, thanks in part to Gilbert's interception:

Memphis Showboats outside linebacker Greg Reaves earned honorable mention with three total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble in the Showboats' 18-12 win over the Houston Roughnecks.

Jake Bates connected on an amazing, game-winning 64-yard field goal in the Michigan's 18-16 win over St. Louis.

The well-traveled Bates played college football at Central Arkansas in 2018 and 2019, Texas State in 2020 and 2021, and Arkansas in 2022 where he solely handled kick-off duties.

Bates' winning field goal was his first attempt since high school.
