Admirals Land Three for AHL All-Star Classic
January 3, 2020 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - The American Hockey League announced today that Admirals defenseman Alex Carrier, forward Yakov Trenin, and goalie Connor Ingram have all been selected to represent the team at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Ontario International Airport, to be held on January 26-27 in Ontario, CA.
The trio will join Admirals Head Coach Karl Taylor, who was selected as one of four coaches for the event earlier this week by virtue of the Ads having the best record in the Central Division.
Currently in his fourth year with the team, Carrier leads Admirals defenseman and is third in the AHL with 25 points via four goals and 21 assists while playing in 34 games. He tops the Ads roster with 21 helpers and 10 power-play assists and his six-game scoring streak from November 10-22 was a new career long. The Quebec City, QE native is the team's All-Time AHL scoring leader among defenseman with 129 points on 19 goals and 110 assists, while playing in 255 career contests.
Trenin scored the first goal for the Admirals this season and hasn't looked back as he will likely set career highs in all offensive categories. The Chelyabinsk, Russia native leads the team in goals with 14 and is second on the club with 26 points, despite missing 14 games because of recall to Nashville. He has a team-high nine multi-point contests and was named AHL Player of the Week on December 2 after scoring five goals and dishing out two assists in three games. In his third full-time season with the Admirals he shows 34 career goals and 44 assists for 78 points and a +39 rating in 143 games.
Acquired from the Lightning this summer, Ingram currently ranks third in the AHL in save percentage (.932) and is fifth in goals against average (2.07), while accumulating a sparkling 11-3-3 record this year with Milwaukee. The Imperial, SK native won nine games in a row from October 29-December 6, which was one win shy of a new Admirals record. On seven occasions he has turned aside over 30 shots in a game and, along with fellow netminder Troy Grosenick, has helped the Admirals allow the fewest goals per game in the league.
The 2020 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 26 (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) will pit the All-Stars from the two Eastern Conference divisions against those from the two Western Conference divisions in seven skills events.
In the 2020 AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday, Jan. 27 (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT), the four teams will participate in a 3-on-3, round-robin tournament featuring six games of 10 minutes each. The two teams with the best records at the end of the round-robin will face off for the championship, a six-minute, 3-on-3 game.
Tickets for the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Ontario International Airport, which include admission to both the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 26, and the AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday, Jan. 27, are available now by visiting ontarioreign.com/allstar.
