Mark Rassell Selected to 2024 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic Roster

BOISE, ID - The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars(@DallasStars), along with the ECHL announced today that Steelheads forward Mark Rassell has been selected to the 2024 Warrior/ECHL All-Star Classic roster.

Rassell, 26, is in his second professional season, first in Boise, and currently leads the ECHL with 22 goals and is tied for sixth with 35 points. His five power-play goals this year are tied for third in the league while his five game-winning goals are tied for second.

The Calgary, AB native set a Steelheads franchise record for the longest goal streak scoring in eight consecutive games from Oct. 21-Nov. 11 where he scored 10 goals. He is second on the club with 12 multi-point games and first with six multi-goal outings. Rassell was named ECHL Player of the Week on Nov. 6 for the week of Oct. 3-Oct.5 scoring four goals and adding two assists in a three-game sweep over Wichita.

The 6-foot-1, 185lb forward spent his first professional season last year on an AHL contract with the Bakersfield Condors where he made his debut on Mar. 18, 2023. He appeared in 68 games with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets colleting 50 points (21G, 29A) in 68 games.

Prior to pro hockey, he played three seasons at the University of New Brunswick from 2018-22 accumulating 73 points (33G, 40A) in 72 career games helping the club to a USports Championship during the 2021-22 campaign. During the 2018-19 season he was named to the USports All-Rookie Team winning his first of two USports Championship's. He played four seasons in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 2014-18 totaling 181 points (103G, 78A) in 274 career games and served as team Captain in his final year, 2017-18, leading the Tigers with 50 goals and tying for first with 80 points. His 50 goals that year were fourth in the league.

The Savannah Ghost Pirates will host the All-Star Classic on Monday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. (MT) at Enmarket Arena. The game will air LIVE exclusively on NHL Network and FloHockey.

Idaho opens a season long six-game homestand tonight vs. the Reading Royals from the Idaho Central Arena at 7:10 p.m.
