
Wichita Suffers 4-3 Loss at Kansas City

INDEPENDENCE, MO (Feb. 20) - Wichita battled back to from two separate three-goal deficits, but fell short on Friday night to Kansas City, 4-3, at Cable Dahmer Arena.
Ryan Finnegan and Noah Beck each had two points while Matt Crasa, T.J. Lloyd and Jay Dickman found the back of the net. Roddy Ross took the defeat, stopping 33 shots.
Bobo Carpenter got things started six minutes into the game. He drove around a Thunder defender up the right wing and slipped a shot through Ross to make it 1-0.
Jack Randl increased the lead to 2-0 at 15:37. He hammered a one-timer from the edge of the right circle on the power play for his 19th of the campaign.
In the second, Luke Loheit added to the lead with a shorthanded marker at 2:12. Ross was looking up the ice after collecting a dump in on his net. His pass was picked off and Loheit rifled a shot up top for his 10th of the year.
Crasa put the Thunder on the board at 3:05. He popped out from the blue paint into the bumper and fired a one-timer on the power play to make it 3-1.
At 7:53, Casey Carreau tallied his 15th of the year to make it 4-1. After winning a battle down below the goal line, Marcus Crawford found a streaking teammate up the ice. The puck eventually ended up on the stick of Carreau and he wired a shot past Ross.
Lloyd recorded his first of the year at 18:52, hammering a one-timer from the slot past Logan Terness to cut the lead to 4-2.
Dickman made it a one-goal game at 16:08 of the third. He outmuscled Luke LaMaster near the blue paint for his 13th of the year and made it 4-3.
The Thunder had one last faceoff with 13 seconds left and called their timeout to set up a play. Unfortunately, Wichita couldn't get a shot on net and the Mavericks held on for the win.
Dickman has points in his last five games. Peter Bates added an assist, giving him points in seven-straight and assists in his last six. Michal Stinil also collected an assist, giving him points in his last four. Beck and Finnegan each had two assists. Crasa has points in three-straight and goals in two of his last three.
Wichita went 1-for-5 on the power play. Kansas City was 1-for-1 on the man advantage.
The two teams close their weekend series tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. at Cable Dahmer Arena.
