Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads lost their second game at home this season in a penalty-filled 5-2 decision to the Fresno Falcons before 3,744 at the Bank of America Centre. The teams combined for 140 penalty minutes. The first place Steelheads are now 42-12-4 on the year, and 26-2-1 at home.

Just 12 seconds into the game Adam Copeland got one past Mark Gowan to give Idaho the 1-0 lead. Petr Suchanek and John Shockey recorded an assist on the goal. However, they couldn't hold onto the lead for long as Fresno came back with the next two. The first came when Kris Porter got a pass over to Glen Gulutzan who deked out Blair Allison at 3:20. Then, at 7:18 the Falcons capitalized on their first power play opportunity when Captain Jason Weaver put one between the pipes fed from Porter and Cory Murphy to put the Falcons up by one.

The Steelheads couldn't knot the score though they had a two-man advantage for 25 seconds early in the second period. Instead Colin Embley gave the Falcons a two-goal lead six minutes in with Weaver picking up an assist. However, the Steelheads would score with their next five-on-three opportunity when Brar fed Jeremy Mylymok who blasted one from the circle over Gowan's leg as he went down to make the save. The equalizing goal came at 11:15 with Joe Rybar also getting a point on the goal. Then, Fresno stole back their one-goal lead at 18:29 when Jordan Landry skated the puck in, wrapped around the net and found a gap in the corner. The second period ended 4-2 in favor of the Falcons.

At 3:08 of the third period, Kris Porter got credit for a goal after the puck was deflected off Idaho defenseman Petr Suchanek's skate. That proved to be the lone goal in the final period despite the Steelheads outshooting the Falcons 18-5 in the third, and 38-17 on the night.
