GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals defeated the Columbia Inferno 5-4 in overtime last Friday night in front of a franchise record 11,374 fans. Greensboro never led in regulation, but they got goals from Pete Gardiner and Matt Turek to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods. Columbia regained the lead at 3-2 in the third period, but Kurt Drummond netted a shorthanded goal to even the score minutes later. The Inferno took their final lead midway through the final period, but Turek's second of the night with 4:29 left in regulation sent the game to overtime. Sam Ftorek send the crowd home happy with a slap shot 1:32 into overtime to give the victory to Greensboro.

CINCINNATI CYCLONES

The Cyclones were defeated 5-2 at home by the Toledo Storm last Friday. Toledo struck for two goals in the first period from Darryl Bootland and Nathan Robinson. Robinson's second goal of the night increased the lead to 3-0 in the second period, and Matt Ellis gave the Storm a commanding 4-0 advantage. Steve Gallace put the Cyclones on the board, but Bootland's second goal of the night in the opening minute of the third period put the game away. Cincinnati finished off the scoring with a goal by Aaron Brand.

RECENT TRANSACTIONS

¨ 2/26 Acquired defenseman Derrick Byfuglien from the Mississippi Sea Wolves in exchange for defenseman Chris Allen.

¨ 2/26 Acquired left wing Mike Bayrack from the Toledo Storm for an undisclosed amount of cash.

¨ 2/26 Placed defenseman Alex Andreyev on the 7-day injured list.

¨ 3/1 Defenseman Ryan Gaucher was recalled by the Norfolk Admirals (AHL).

NOTES & NUMBERS

¨ Friday's game was not only the largest crowd in the Generals' four-year history. It was also the ECHL season high for single game attendance.

¨ The Generals are seeking a season high five game home winning streak tonight.

¨ Kurt Drummond's next point will be the 100th of his career.

¨ Greensboro has 16 come from behind victories this season, including five from two-goal deficits.

The Cyclones have 18 games in the final 29 days of the season. They have played at least three more games than any other team in the league.

¨ Cyclones leading scorer and the ECHL leader in points by a defenseman Ryan Gaucher was just recalled on Saturday to the American Hockey League.

¨ Cincinnati is second in the league with a 23.7% power play percentage.

ABOUT THE GAME

This is the one and only meeting of the season between the Generals and the Cyclones. Greensboro has faced Cincinnati once all-time, dropping a 5-0 decision in Cincinnati last March 22.
