
Florida Picks Up One Win on Weekend Trip

The Florida Everblades fell to the Pensacola Ice Pilots 5-3 this past Friday night and then split a pair of weekend games 4-3 and 2-5 on Saturday and Sunday. The Everblades dropped into third place in the ECHL's Southeast Division and trail second place South Carolina by one point and first place Columbia by six points. Florida hosts the Augusta Lynx on Friday and Saturday night at TECO Arena. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio 770 AM and on the Internet at www.floridaeverblades.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Mark Miller calling the play-by-play. 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM airs on 770 AM from 6:30 - 7:30 PM on Monday nights. The show will be live on remote at the Ft. Myers location tonight with special guest forward Keith Anderson.

The Harlem Globetrotters visit TECO Arena on Thursday, March 6th. The Everblades battle the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 PM on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th at TECO Arena. The Everblades Third Annual Women's Clinic will be held on Tuesday, March 11th at TECO Arena. Friday, March 7th vs. Augusta Lynx 7:30 PM/EST
GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Lynx will meet for the seventh time this season. Florida is 2-2-2 against them this season and 1-0-1 at TECO Arena. The Blades were swept by the Lynx 1-5 and 5-9 when they last met in Augusta on 1/10 & 1/11. Florida and Augusta have not played at TECO Arena since November 16th when the Blades fell in a shootout 2-1. Augusta (21-33-5, 47 pts.) currently ranks in 7th place in the Southeast Division standings while Florida (32-18-10, 74 pts.) ranks in 3rd in the Southeast. The Lynx are 6-23-2 on the road this season and 4-5-1in their last ten games. Florida holds a 23-6-4 record all-time against the Lynx and a 13-2-1 record at TECO Arena. Forward Andrew Williamson leads the team in scoring with 23-41-64. The Lynx power play ranks 26th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 15th.

GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Lynx will meet for the eighth and final time this season. Each fan at the game will receive a 2002-03 Everblades Team Poster Card courtesy of Direct Impressions.

Tuesday, February 25th vs. Jackson Bandits 0-3 L
The Florida Everblades (31-16-10) were shut out by the Jackson Bandits (27-21-7) 3-0 at TECO Arena on Tuesday night. Jackson forward Jeff Bes had a goal and an assist and goaltender Tyrone Garner picked up the shutout for the Bandits.
Friday, February 28th @ Pensacola Ice Pilots 3-5 L
Pensacola scored three short-handed goals in route to a 5-3 victory over the Florida Everblades. The win clinched a playoff spot for the Ice Pilots.
Saturday, March 1st @ Baton Rouge Kingfish 4-3 W
Kevin Brown scored with 1:30 remaining to lift the Florida Everblades to a 4-3 victory over the Baton Rouge Kingfish.
Sunday, March 2nd @ Baton Rouge Kingfish 2-5 L
Dan Sullivan scored two power play goals and Alexandre Burrows scored once and assisted on two others as the Baton Rouge Kingfish defeated the Florida Everblades 5-2.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward Kevin Brown. The Birmingham, England native registered two goals and three assists this past week including the game winning goal on Saturday night.
EVERBLADES IN THE COMMUNITY: The entire Everblades team will be participating in the Third Annual Women's Clinic on Tuesday, March 11th. The Blades will conduct on-ice demonstrations and a number of other events at the women only event. Defenseman Ed Hill participated in the Estero Lions Club Fishing Jamboree and was at the Edison Mall along with Swampee this past weekend.
