'Gades Take Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

The Richmond Renegades are 30-28-3 after going 3-0 last week. The ‘Gades are in sixth place in the Northeast Division, seven points behind Trenton and the final Northeast playoff spot. The ‘Gades play their next nine games on the road. They do not return home until the final weekend of the regular season.

GAME NOTES: The eighth of 10 meetings and the fourth of five at Roanoke. ‘Gades are 3-4 vs. the Express, 1-2 at Roanoke. Clubs meet three times in March. Brad Church and Richard Pitirri each have eight points vs. the Express. Dan Carlson has 12 vs. Richmond.

Saturday, March 8 @ Charlotte 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The seventh of nine meetings and the fourth of five at Charlotte. ‘Gades are 2-3-1 vs. the Checkers, 0-2-1 at Charlotte. Clubs meet three times in March. Lars Pettersen has six points vs. Charlotte. Four Checkers have seven points vs. the ‘Gades. Checkers are 8-35 on the power play vs. Richmond.

Wednesday, February 26 vs. Lexington WIN 2-0

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades earned the shutout win behind 25 saves by Marc Magliarditi. The clubs battled through 46:35 scoreless minutes before Jon Zion scored to put Richmond in front. Dan Vandermeer added an insurance goal with inside a minute to play. Richmond was 5-5 on the penalty kill.

Friday, February 28 vs. Atlantic City WIN 3-1

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades picked up their first non-overtime win over the Bullies this season. Daniel Goneau snapped a scoreless tie mid-way through the second period. Brad Church and Lars Pettersen also scored for Richmond. Marc Magliarditi carried a bid for a second straight shutout into the final 2:30. He finished with 38 saves. Richmond was out-shot 19-9 in the third period.

Saturday, March 1 vs. Reading WIN 6-3

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades blew a tight game open with a four goal third period explosion. The ‘Gades snapped a 2-2 tie with three straight goals in the third. Brad Church had two goals and two assists. Nick Lent scored two goals and added an assist. Lars Pettersen had three assists.

GADES NOTES: Marc Magliarditi is the ECHL Goalie of the Week this week. He was runner up last week. Magliarditi was 3-0 1.33 in three games last week. Brad Church, a two time Player of the Week, was runner-up this week. Richmond has won five straight games, equaling their longest winning streak of the season (the ‘Gades won five straight from 10/25 to 11/3. Three of those wins came in overtime). The ‘Gades have outscored opponents 18-7 over the streak. The ‘Gades have won seven straight home games by a combined score of 32-13. The club record for consecutive home wins is eight during the ‘92-'93 season. Richmond has allowed four even strength goals in their last five games. The ‘Gades 24 home wins is the most in the league. That equals the third highest total in club history with two home games remaining (the club record is 27 in ‘95-'96. Richmond won 25 home games in ‘94-'95, and 24 in ‘98-'99). The ‘Gades play nine straight road games in March. Richmond has lost their last eight road games and is winless is 10 straight away from home. Their six road wins is tied for fewest in the ECHL. Garret Stroshein remains on re-call with Portland of the AHL. He is the seventh ‘Gade to be called up this season. Lars Pettersen and Brad Church have points in seven straight games. Marc Magliarditi has won all five games in the winning steak (1.40 GAA in his last five starts). His shutout Wednesday was his third and the club's fourth of the season. Magliarditi has moved past Jeff Salajko into sixth place on the ECHL career wins list with 133. His next target is ex-Renegades goaltendter Sandy Allan who is fifth with 137. Jon Zion is +9 in his last five games. Richmond snapped a 1-21 power play slump with two power play goals Saturday. The ‘Gades have 10 former NHL draft picks on their roster. Daniel Goneau and Lars Pettersen are tied for 13th in the ECHL in points. Goneau is tied for second in plus/minus at +34. Jon Zion is eighth in scoring by defensemen and leads the league in points by rookie D-men. Leon Hayward leads the ECHL in shorthanded goals by rookies (4). Marc Magliarditi is tied for the league lead in shutouts and is fifth in the league in minutes played. The ‘Gades are the least penalized team in the ECHL. They are seventh in penalty killing (83.1%), tied for second in shorthanded goals (14), and seventh in fewest shots on goal allowed (30.2 per game). The ‘Gades were 6-5 in February, their first winning month since November.
