Late goals lifts Condors over Long Beach

Jeff Goldie scored on the power play with 5:25 remaining in regulation to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Ice Dogs in Long Beach on Wednesday night, 2-1. The Condors fell behind just over two minutes into the contest, when Long Beach C Jamie O'Leary scored on the first shot of the game. Bakersfield G Kevin St. Pierre was strong, however, and stopped each of the next 28 shots they fired at him to get the win. RW Jamie Cooke tallied the other goal for Bakersfield, who won for the sixth consecutive time against Long Beach.

Third period loss in Anchorage

The Condors had a lead in each of the three periods of Friday's game in Anchorage, but couldn't hold on and suffered a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Aces. Anchorage scored twice in the span of 38 seconds midway through the final stanza to come from a 4-3 deficit and push past the stunned Condors. Four different Condors scored in the game, including C Shawn Byram, whose shorthanded goal in the third period gave Bakersfield a league-leading 14 shorthanded tallies this season. C Kimbi Daniels had three assists and RW Kevin McNeill scored two goals for the Aces. Kevin St. Pierre took the loss, stopping 34 of 39 shots.

Saturday, March 1

Condors exact revenge on Aces

Seven different players scored for Bakersfield on Saturday night as they pounded the Aces 8-3 to finish the weekend. It was the highest goal output of the season for the Condors, who scored three times on the power play. Rookie D Jonas Lennartsson opened the scoring in the opening frame with his first goal of the season. LW Jeff Goldie scored twice and RW Jason Ralph notched a goal and two assists in the win. Rookie goaltender Beau Fritz stopped 20 shots for his second victory of the season, while the Condors pounded the Aces net with 31 shots. They improved to 4-4-4 against the Aces, and played their last game of the season in Alaska.

This Week

Bakersfield hosts Fresno twice this week, the first of which is on Tuesday night. WB 12 and KISS 96.5 present the final Student ID Night at Centennial Garden for the game, which starts at 7:00pm. All college and high school students can receive a $1 ticket in the lower level by presenting their school identification to the box office. The first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles will also pick up a set of Condors Mardi Gras beads, sponsored by FOX 98.5 and The Prime Cut.

They head to Idaho for games on Friday and Saturday night, for their final visit to the Bank of America Centre this season. Both contests start at 6:05pm (PST), and can be heard on KGEO AM 1230, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 minutes prior to face off. The Condors are 4-4-1 against Idaho, including 1-3-1 in Boise.

On Sunday, they come back home to take on Fresno again in a 5:00pm start. That night, everyone in attendance will receive a Condors player poster, featuring Associate Coach Marty Raymond, D Quinn Fair, C Jason Jackman, RW Jason Ralph and LW Paul Rosebush, sponsored by the Spanish Radio Group and the Water Association of Kern County. There is also a "Skate with the Condors" exclusively for season ticket holders after the game.

Notes

· After going 52 games without a goal this season, D Guy Dupuis has scored three times in the last five games.

· D Jonas Lennartsson was a +4 on Saturday. It was the 10th time this season he has been a +2 or better in a game. He is +34 for the season, which leads the WCHL. The franchise record is +41, set by D Glen Mears during the 1996-97 season.

· C Paul Willett needs only two points to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

· RW Jamie Cooke needs only two goals for 300 in his professional career. His assist on Friday night was his 300th point as a member of the Condors. He is just the third player to reach that mark in franchise history.

· G Kevin St. Pierre is 2-4-3 with a 3.07 GAA and a .886 save percentage against Anchorage this season. Against the rest of the league, he is 27-4-4, with a 1.91 GAA and .934 save percentage.

· The Condors moved up three spots to #9 on www.inthecrease.com website ranking of ‘AA' teams in North America.
