Trenton Devils News Release
The Trenton Titans (31-20-8) closed out the month of February on a three-game losing streak and opened March with a pair of wins. The Titans are in the midst of a tough six-game stretch against Northeast Division opponents. They are currently 2-2 through the first four games, and continue on Tuesday night with the sixth and final game against the Greensboro Generals (34-18-6). The Titans are just 1-3-1 against the Generals this season, but won the last meeting 4-0 in Trenton on February 14th. Matt Zultek and Mike Hurley each have three goals in the season series, and Scott Bertoli has five assists. On Wednesday night the Titans travel to Reading to battle the Royals (29-27-4) for the ninth of 10 meetings. The Titans are 6-1-1 against the Royals this season. Scott Bertoli has nine points (2 goal, 7 assists) in the season series, and Eric Betournay has seven (4 goals, 3 assists). Then on Saturday afternoon the Titans face the Wheeling Nailers (23-32-3) in Wilkes-Barre Scranton in the second of four meetings between the teams. The Titans won 3-0 on October 30th in Trenton.
"Player of the Month of February â Scott Bertoli":
Scott Bertoli notched at least one point in every game in February leading the Titans to a 7-4-1 record. He scored five goals and added 14 assists in 12 games, all of which were part of a franchise record point streak. Overall Bertoli has 46 points (14 goals, 32 assists) in just 34 games this season.
"Player of the Week â Syl Apps":
Center Syl Apps gets the nod after registering four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in the last three games of last week. On Friday he had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 loss to Charlotte. Apps followed it up with a power play in Saturday night's 3-0 win against Roanoke, and made it three straight games with a goal on Sunday putting home his tenth of the season. Apps has 29 points this season.
Bertoli Franchise Point Streak Ends At 18; Closes In On Franchise Goal Record:
Left wing Scott Bertoli's career and Titans' franchise point streak ended at 18 in last Saturday night's 3-0 win against Roanoke. During the streak he netted eight goals and 20 assists. Bertoli had five multiple point efforts, including a season high four assists in a 4-0 win against Greensboro on February 15th. He broke his own streak and the previous franchise record point streak of 15 games set during his rookie season (1999-2000), in which he totaled 25 points (4 goals, 21 assists). Bertoli also has 78 career goals, just one short of Cail MacLean's franchise record of 79.
"Edinger Continues To Lead In All Situations":
Center Adam Edinger has been consistent all season long for the Titans. He picked up his sixth game-winning goal of the season and an assist in the 5-3 win on Sunday in Reading leaving him one goal shy of 30. Edinger leads the squad with 17 multiple point efforts, 29 goals, (14 power play, 5 short-handed), 32 assists and 61 points.
