Trenton, NJ - The ECHL's Trenton Devils today announced their schedule for the 2011-12 season.
After beginning the regular season with two games in Elmira on October 14 and 15, the Devils host Florida on Saturday, October 22 at 7 p.m. and Cincinnati on Sunday, October 23 at 4 p.m. Opening Weekend at Trenton's Sun National Bank Center will mark the 13th season of professional hockey in New Jersey's capital city.
Each of Trenton's regular season home games will be played at Sun National Bank Center, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. for games Monday through Saturday, and 4 p.m. for Sunday matchups. Two exceptions include a New Year's Eve Celebration on Saturday, December 31 vs. Elmira at 5 p.m. and a School Day Game on Wednesday, February 15 vs. Reading at 11 a.m.
Of the 36 home dates, 25 are weekend games, including eight Fridays, ten Saturdays, and nine Sundays. The nine midweek contests take place on Wednesdays.
The Devils will face every Eastern Conference opponent both at home and on the road, including four home matchups with the expansion Chicago Express. Chicago visits Trenton for two games Thanksgiving Weekend, November 26 and 27, and returns for games on February 1 and 3.
The most familiar opponents for Trenton will be Elmira, Reading and Wheeling, facing off with each club 15 times, 13 times and 12 times, respectively. Two road matchups against Wheeling will be played at the Cambria County War Memorial, the former home of the Johnstown Chiefs, on November 18 and 19.
Trenton closes out its home schedule with games on March 28 against Elmira and on March 30 against Wheeling before closing out the 72-game regular season in Reading on March 31.
Two preseason games pit the Devils against Reading, starting with a home game at Grundy Arena in Bristol, PA on Saturday, October 8 at 5 p.m. and a road game at Reading's Sovereign Center on Sunday, October 9 at 4:05 p.m.
