Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

LAST WEEK: Pee Dee went 1-2-0 last week, dropping its overall record to 32-23-5 for 69 points with 12 games remaining in the regular season. The Pride are in fourth place in the Southeast Division, trailing third-place Florida by five points, and second-place South Carolina by six points.

Thursday, February 27 v. Lexington PRIDE 4 Men O' War 3 (SO)

The Pride fell behind quickly, as Lexington scored a pair of goals 4:14 into the contest. Pee Dee cut the deficit in half with an Allan Sirois goal just two minutes into the second, only to see the Men O' War go back up by two at 16:40. Just 29 seconds later, Preston Mizzi pulled the Pride back within one. Three minutes into the final period, a Ryan Petz goal tied it, and the game went to overtime. In the shootout, Pee Dee scored a pair of goals, while Ron Vogel turned aside all four Men O' War shooters to give the Pride the win.

Friday, February 28 @ Augusta Lynx 5 PRIDE 2

A goal by Mike Glumac midway through the first period gave the Pride an early lead. But, the Lynx would score the next three goals, giving them a 3-1 lead early in the third period. Glumac's second tally of the night at the 8:54 mark pulled the Pride within one, but Augusta scored two goals just 59 seconds apart late in the period to put the game out of reach.

Saturday, March 1 @ Greenville Grrrowl 4 PRIDE 0

Despite outshooting Greenville 38-28 for the game and 17-7 in the third period, the Pride were shutout for the third time this season. The Grrrowl scored single goals in each of the first two periods, and added a pair of goals in the third to set the final.

OTHER NOTES

UNFRIENDLY ROAD

Pee Dee's struggles on the road continued last week, as the Pride dropped both of their contests away from home. The Pride are now 2-10-0 in their last 12 games on enemy ice, being outscored 42-27. They have scored two goals or fewer in nine of the 12 games, including each of the last five.

GLUMAC REACHES 30

Rookie Mike Glumac scored both of the Pride's goals Friday at Augusta, giving him 30 for the season. Glumac has a chance to set a new Pride team record for most goals in a season by a rookie. Wes Goldie holds that mark, scoring 33 goals in 2000-01. He is nine behind the all-time team record of 39 set by Dany Bousquet last year.

POWER OUTAGE

Entering Thursday's game against the Lexington, Pee Dee had scored at least one power-play goal in each of their previous seven outings. That streak came to an end against the Men O' War, and it carried through the weekend, as the Pride went scoreless on all 11 of their power-play opportunities.

PENALTY KILL GOES PERFECT

While the Pride's power play struggled last week, the penalty kill was at the exact opposite end of the spectrum. Pee Dee killed off all 10 of their opposition's man-advantage chances. The Pride are eighth in the league, killing off 83.0 percent of power-play opportunities.
