TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The 10th and final meeting and the fifth in Richmond.

‘Gades are 2-2 vs. the Express at home. Final regular season game for both clubs and the eighth in 10 days for the Express. Richard Pitirri has 10 points vs. the Express. Dan Carlson has 15 points vs. Richmond. Roanoke is locked into the third seed in the Northeast and will face either Atlantic City or Greensboro in the opening round of the playoffs next week. The ‘Gades will finish sixth in the Northeast.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Gades drilled Charlotte 6-3 last night, eliminating the Checkers from the playoffs. Six ‘Gades scored and six ‘Gades had two point games. Richmond was 7-7 on the penalty kill. Roanoke thumped Reading 6-2. Dylan Gyori's second goal snapped a two-all tie late in the second period. The Express blew the game open with three third period goals. Roanoke out-shot Reading 57-37.

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond is playing their third game in three nights and fourth in five. ECHL All Rookie and second team All Star defenseman Jon Zion was called up to Portland of the AHL following Friday night's game. It is Zion's third AHL call-up this season. 12 ‘Gades have earned call-ups this season. Zion joins Leon Hayward (who made his AHL debut with Manchester Friday night), Daniel Goneau, Jayme Filipowicz, and Garret Stroshien currently away on call-ups. The ‘Gades re-signed Bryan McKinney yesterday. He played in two games with Richmond earlier this season. The ‘Gades finished their season-long nine game road trip with a 4-3-2 record. The ‘Gades have won five of their last six games. Richmond is 10-3-2 in their last 15 games. The ‘Gades have won eight straight home games by a combined score of 38-16. The club record for consecutive home wins is eight during the ‘92-'93 season. The ‘Gades 25 home wins equals the second highest total in club history (the club record is 27 in ‘95-'96; Richmond won 25 home games in ‘94-'95, and 24 in ‘98-'99). Marc Magliarditi has moved past Jeff Salajko into sixth place on the ECHL career wins list with 134. His next target is ex-Renegades goaltendter Sandy Allan who is fifth with 137. The ‘Gades have lost their last five overtime/shootouts after winning their first seven. Josh Harrold is out for the season with a broken orbital bone.

Nick Lent is out following surgery last week. The ‘Gades have clenched a fifth straight .500-plus season. The ‘Gades have scored five or more goals 12 times this season (that means free bread sticks from Little Caesar's Pizza). Sandy Lamarre has points in four straight games. Brad Chruch has points in three straight.

EXPRESS NOTES: Jason Jaffray is the ECHL Rookie of the Year. He was also a first team ECHL All Star. Rick Kowalsky earned second team All Star honors. The Express lineup includes four of the league's top 18 scorers (Jaffray is tied for seventh, Kowalsky is tied for 10th, Gyori is 14th, and Dan Carlson is tied for 17th).

NEXT UP: The Express opens play in the 2003 Kelly Cup playoffs next week. Opponent and schedule pending. The ‘Gades will open the '03-'04 season around October 17, 2003.
