Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs defenseman Chris Peyton scored the game-winning goal in the seventh round of overtime as Long Beach beat the Anchorage Aces 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night at Long Beach Arena despite blowing a two-goal lead midway into the third period. The win, which was Long Beach's sixth against the Aces at home this season lifts the Ice Dogs out of last place and into fifth with a one-point edge.

After leading 2-0 at 12:15 in the second period, the Ice Dogs' Richard Paul was assessed a charging penalty helping Aces' Kimbi Daniels to score his ninth power-play goal with 47 seconds remaining in the period. Daniels scored his second goal of the evening at 13:08 in the third period to force the shootout.

The Ice Dogs jumped to an early lead when Trent Clark scored his 11th goal of the season at 5:20 in the opening period. Tyler Willis captured his 350th professional point in the second period with his 11th goal, a power-play goal, of the season at 12:15. Tyrel Frisky assisted on Willis' milestone goal registering his sixth point in only his fifth game since being acquired at the March 11 deadline.

Both teams will face off again in a Sunday matinee game at the Long Beach Arena at 4 p.m.
