Regular Season Finale Used as Playoff Tuneup

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl ended their 72-game regular season schedule with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Greensboro Generals in front of 4,936 at the BI-LO Center Sunday afternoon. The Grrrowl travel to TECO Arena for a one-game playoff against the Florida Everblades Tuesday at 7:30 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950).

The Grrrowl opened the scoring at 12:15 of the first period when MATT DEMARSKI fed TYLER DEIS with a breakaway pass, and Deis beat Sebastian Centomo to give Greenville a 1-0 lead. Bryan Richardson tied the game, 1-1, with just 24 seconds left in the opening frame. Following a scoreless second period, Greensboro took their first lead, 2-1, when David Whitworth beat Grrrowl goaltender DAMIAN RHODES at at 12:16 of the third period. CHRIS LYNCH tied the game 2-2 at 16:15, and following 5 minutes of overtime, David Whitworth scored the deciding goal in the shootout as Greensboro posted their 7th straight win, 3-2. The Grrrowl finish the regular season 15-17-4 at home, 13-19-4 on the road, and 28-36-8 overall.

MATT DEMARSKI wins the Grrrowl scoring title with 63 points, while Demarski and TYLER DEIS were the only two players to appear in all 72 regular season games this season.
