Falcons Shutout by Condors

March 30, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Paul Willett's first period short-handed goal was all the Bakersfield Condors needed behind a 22-save shutout performance from goaltender Kevin St. Pierre as they defeated the Fresno Falcons on Saturday, 3-0, at Centennial Garden.

Fresno actually dominated play through the first 10 minutes of the game, outshooting Bakersfield at one point, 11-3. On a power play and still chipping away in the offensive zone, the Falcons then yielded the aforementioned unassisted short-handed goal to Willett at 14:01, which gave Bakersfield the lead they would never relinquish and clearly swung the momentum back in favor of the home team for the remainder of the game.

Including Willett's goal, the Condors outshot Fresno 34-11 over the final 46 minutes as they won their fifth consecutive game in the season series. Jason Ralph and Christian Skoryna each added goals in the second for the final margin.

The Falcons are now 2-12-1 against the Condors and drop to 32-28-8 overall with 72 points.

Fresno returns to the ice on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 1 and 2, for its final home games of the season against the Condors and Idaho Steelheads, respectively. Tickets are still available for both games at the Selland Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
