Mosienko and Sestito Up For Ironman Award
ST. CATHARINES, ON- The Professional Hockey Players' Association announced yesterday the nominations for the InterContinental Hotels Group Ironman Award. Grrrowl Rookies Tyler Mosienko and Tim Sestito are among the ECHL Nominees.
The ICHG Ironman Award is presented annually to a Professional Hockey Players' Association (PHPA) Member playing in the American Hockey League and a Member playing in the ECHL, respectively who has participated in each of his Club's regular season games and has contributed both offensively and defensively throughout the 2005-2006 regular season.
Rookies Tim Sestito and Tyler Mosienko played on the same line in nearly every game this season, and the duo were the only Grrrowl players to play in all 72 regular season games. Mosienko, the grandson of NHL Hall of Famer Bill Mosienko, completed his rookie season with 47 points on 13 goals, 34 assists and a +19 rating, while leading the Grrrowl with two shorthanded goals. Sestito collected 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points, while tacking on 127 PIMs and a +9 in his first full professional season (Sestito played 9 AHL games last year).
Nominations are based upon individual player performance, with primary consideration placed on games played, points, and plus/minus statistics. A committee comprised of PHPA officials will announce the winners at the PHPA Annual Meeting of Player Representatives in June.
