Fresno Falcons News Release
ANCHORAGE - Olivier Filion scored a power play goal late in the second period providing all the offense that was needed for Alaska Aces netminder Chris Beckford-Tseu, who shutout the Fresno Falcons in Game Two of the National Conference Finals in front of a sold-out Sullivan Arena, 2-0. With the win, the Aces tied the best-of-seven series at a game apiece.
Following nearly 37 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Aces finally broke through with the game's first goal, which came on their sixth power play of the night. Fresno goaltender Jamie Holden made an initial stop off a drive from the point, but Alaska kept digging and was able to free-up a rebound, which eventually kicked to Filion for an easy tap-in back-door at 16:58. For the second consecutive game in the series, the Falcons headed to the third down by a single goal.
Unlike Game One, though, when Fresno was able to come from behind to win in the final period, the Aces hung on with the help of an insurance goal. The Falcons were pressuring looking for the equalizer when Alaska countered back the other way on a two-on-one. Cam Keith fed Mike Scott, who finished the odd-man rush, staking the Aces to a 2-0 lead.
The series now shifts to Save Mart Center for Games Three and Four this Friday and Saturday and Game Five on Tuesday, May 16. Tickets for all three 7:30 p.m. starts are currently on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office beginning as low as $14 for Silver Section seats and just $10 for Student Section seats.
The first 2,000 fans at both Friday and Saturday's games will receive a free Falcons team playoff photo and a BEAT ALASKA cheer card courtesy of Big Bob's New and Used Carpet and The Fresno Bee.
Those fans that purchased playoff ticket packages should use their third round tickets labeled in the upper left-hand corner with 3A for Friday's Game Three, 3B for Saturday's Game Four, and 3C for Tuesday, May 16's Game Five.
If necessary Games Six and Seven would return to Anchorage and Sullivan Arena on May 19 and 22, respectively.
