'Gades Zion Named to All Rookie and All Star Teams

Richmond, VA – Richmond Renegades defenseman Jon Zion has been selected to the ECHL All Rookie team and earned second team ECHL All Star honors. Zion, a first year pro from Ottawa of the OHL, has 50 points in 57 games. He leads ECHL rookie defensemen in scoring.

Zion, one of three Renegades selected to play in this year's ECHL All Star Game, earned a pair of call-ups to AHL Cincinnati this season. The Nepean, ON native played in 12 games with the Mighty Ducks.

Zion, a former Toronto draft pick, is the fourth player in Renegades history to earn post-season All Star honors. Goalie Maxime Gingras was a first team All Star in 1999, RW Darren Coolbourne was second team in 1994, and defenseman Tom Searle was second team in 1991.

The Renegades have two home games left this season: Saturday, March 29 vs. Charlotte at 7:35, and Sunday, March 30 vs. Roanoke at 5:05. For more information please call the ‘Gades office at 643-7825.
