Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will host two games this weekend at Centennial Garden. On Friday night, the Anchorage Aces are in town, and on Saturday they'll host the Fresno Falcons. Both games begin at 7:00pm.
On Friday night, the first 2,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a Condors CD wallet, sponsored by KUZZ 107.9 and Sierra Mist. The promotion is the first of its kind for the Condors. The game is a rematch of last Saturday's battle between the Aces and Condors, which Bakersfield won 5-1. The Condors lost two players to season-ending injuries in that game, and the clubs combined for Bakersfield's third highest penalty minute total of the season.
The Anchorage match will be telecast live on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21, and rebroadcast at 10:00am on Saturday morning.
Also on Friday night, it's a Condors Classroom Champions Night, sponsored by CBS 29, McDonald's and Big Valley Construction. Students who achieve outstanding attendance levels received a complimentary terrace ticket to the game. Adults can also use the same voucher to purchase up to two terrace tickets for $5 apiece. Prior to the game, Bakersfield H.S. wrestler Nathan Morgan will drop the ceremonial first puck. He has won two state championships and is currently ranked #2 in the nation.
During the first intermission, Kevin St. Pierre will be honored at center ice for winning his seventh WCHL Goaltender of the Week Award, and injured winger Paul Rosebush will be presented with his first WCHL Player of the Week Award. The Condors swept the league's weekly honors for the second time this season.
Every Condors home game features an Organization of the Night, which receives proceeds from a jersey raffle held during the game. Friday's charity is the Bakersfield SPCA, which will benefit from the sale of raffle tickets for a game-worn Jason Jackman jersey. As a special prize, and part of their month-long Charity Challenge between Kern and Tulare Counties, The Gas Company will be giving away a 52" projection television through the raffle as well. Two separate winners will be selected, and tickets may be purchased for just $1.
On Saturday night, the Fresno Falcons come into town for the last time this season on Cal the Baby Condor Beanie Doll Night. The first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a beanie doll, sponsored by KERO 23, KNZR 1560 and Frank's Brake. Cal will take a seat at the Holiday Inn Select Autograph Booth behind section 108 during the third period.
After the game, there will be a Season Ticket Holder Meet the Team Party. All Condors season ticket holders are invited to the lower level to meet the team following the game. There will be a cash bar and soda for those in attendance.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location.
