Kabanov Loaned to Modo of Swedish Elite League

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Jan. 17, 2014) - The New York Islanders have announced that forward Kirill Kabanov has been loaned to MoDo of the Swedish Hockey League.

Kabanov, 21, scored three goals for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) in 16 games this season. He also played nine games for the Stockton Thunder (ECHL), in which he scored eight points (four goals, four assists). Kabanov skated in 32 games for the Sound Tigers in 2012-13 and scored nine points (two goals, seven assists).

Kabanov was drafted by the Islanders in the third round (65th overall) in 2010. He played junior hockey for three different teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League: the Moncton Wildcats, Lewiston MAINEiacs and Shawnigan Cataractes. He finished his junior career with 106 points (42 goals, 64 assists).
