Last Week

Friday, January 24 Attendance: 5,166 Condors pound Gulls 5-1

On Friday night, the Condors opened a two-game set on home ice against their rivals from San Diego. It was a rude welcoming for the Gulls, as Bakersfield tallied five times, including three in the final frame for a 5-1 win. Right winger Jason Ralph continued his stellar play with a two-goal night to extend his point streak to six games. Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre stopped 29 shots for the win, and the Gulls were held scoreless on six power play chances. The Condors improved to 4-5 against San Diego on the season, and moved into a tie for second place with the win.

Saturday, January 25 Attendance: 7,324 Gulls comeback spoils weekend

Bakersfield was 20 minutes away from taking sole possession of second place on Saturday night, but it wasn't to be. Right winger Jamie Cooke (with his sixth goal in the last four games) and light winger Jeff Goldie scored in the span of 1:28 to take a 2-1 lead nearly halfway through the game. San Diego tied the game on a two-man power play during the third period, forcing a shootout. The Condors failed to score on five chances, while center Sylvain Deschatelets was the only player for the Gulls to score in the extra session. He scored both of San Diego's regulation tallies as well, as the Gulls stayed in second place with the shootout win.
