Greensboro Generals News Release
UPCOMING WEEK: Following the lightest week of the season after the all-star break, the Greensboro Generals are back in full swing with four games in five days this week. Greensboro has their only two home games in a one month stretch this week as well, starting off the week by entertaining head coach Rick Adduono's former club the South Carolina Stingrays on Wednesday at 7:00 (6:45 pre-game show on WPET AM-950). The Generals are also at home on Thursday at 7:00 (6:45 pre-game) against the Roanoke Express. Thursday's contest is a "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by R. H. Barringer, with all Anheuser-Busch drafts selling for just one dollar. First place could be on the line on Saturday afternoon at 3:05 when the Generals visit the division-leading Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the first game of a five-game road trip. The Generals close out the week by visiting the Johnstown Chiefs for the second and final time at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon. Both Saturday and Sunday's game will be tape delayed on WPET, with the broadcast beginning at 5:45 with the pre-game show. You can also hear all games online at www.greensborogenerals.com.
LAST WEEK: 1/25 GREENSBORO 3, COLUMBIA 1 ¨ Head coach Rick Adduono got what he wanted for his 48th birthdayâa victory. The Generals' got the scoring started midway through the first period on Roman Marakhovski's second goal of the season, but Columbia tied it up in the second on a Barrie Moore score. It stayed tied into the third period, when the Generals pulled away for the victory. Pete Gardiner scored the eventual game winning goal while shorthanded two minutes into the final frame on a slap shot from the right circle. Matt Chandler then provided the Generals with an insurance goal five minutes later with a pretty forehand to backhand move to beat Inferno netminder Patrick Couture. Daniel Berthiaume earned his fourth consecutive victory by making 34 stops one day before his 37th birthday.

1/25 Waived Corey Brown as an emergency backup goaltender.
1/25 Terry Jarkowsky was signed as an emergency backup goaltender.
NOTABLES: ¨ With 29 games left in the campaign, the Generals set a franchise record on Saturday by earning their 60th point of the season.
¨ The Generals are currently riding a league season-high seven game road winning streak. The all-time league record is ten, held by the Adduono-led South Carolina Stingrays in November-December of 2000. Greensboro is also unbeaten in their last eleven road games overall, going 9-0-2 in that time. Their last regulation loss on the road was a 6-4 defeat at Roanoke on November 8.
¨ Generals goaltender Daniel Berthiaume had his franchise record shutout streak snapped at 135 minutes, 58 seconds in the second period of Saturday's game.
¨ Berthiaume has allowed a total of three goals in his last four games for a 0.75 goals against average.
¨ Mark Turner had his team season-high nine game point streak snapped last Saturday.
¨ Greensboro has a current league high four game winning streak.
¨ The Generals are 6-0-1 in games in which they are tied after two periods of play.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE:
PLAYER: Shane Campbell â Campbell dished out two assists and had a +2 rating in the Generals only game of the week. His two-point night was more meaningful than usual, as he was playing in Columbia for the first time since playing for them last year.
GOALIE: Daniel Berthiaume â Berthiaume's spectacular play continued last week, saving 34 of 35 shots in a 3-1 victory over Columbia in the team's only game.
