Friday night the Royals had visions of claiming their first Keystone Cup over the Johnstown Chiefs. The Chiefs crushed those hopes with an 8-2 victory. Winless in their last three games, the Royals traveled to Richmond on Saturday and picked up a key 3-2 decision. The scoring line of Rooney, Rymsha and McCullough led the way with a combined three goals and eight points.

The Royals return home for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday night against division rival Charlotte. Friday in the Sovereign Center is the second edition of Rieck's Printing - hockey trading card night for the first 2,000 fans through the gate. Saturday, the first 1,000 fans receive megaphones courtesy of Met Ed. The Reading Jr. Royals will also be playing during the intermission.

Friday, January 24 @ Johnstown War Memorial 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: After going winless in five tries in their inaugural season, Reading rebounded to be a perfect 2-0-0 in Johnstown this season. The Chiefs changed that last Friday with an 8-2 victory in the final meeting in Johnstown this season. Six first period goals sparked the Chiefs who snapped a seven-game winless skid. Reading will play Johnstown two more times on February 14 and March 8 in the Sovereign Center.

Saturday, January 25 @ Richmond Richmond Coliseum 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals played a solid defensive game winning for the third straight time over Richmond 3-2 in Richmond Coliseum. Brad Rooney (1g, 2a), Brian McCullough (1g, 2a, GW) and Steve Rymsha (1g, 1a) led the way for Reading. The Royals improved to 3-1-1 over Richmond this season with three more meetings remaining.

Friday, January 31 vs. Charlotte Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: If the Reading Royals and Charlotte Checkers don't know each other now they will over the next week. Reading and Charlotte meet three straight times. Reading is 1-1-0 against the Checkers this season, winning in Charlotte 6-3, while losing in Reading nine days later 5-2.

Saturday, February 1 vs. Charlotte Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: Steve Rymsha leads all scorers in this series. In two games, Rymsha has three goals and four points and the Royals game winner. Several players are tied with three points. Both teams have scored eight goals in this series....Charlotte has 81 shots while the Royals have 77 in two games. Reading is a sparkling 50% on the power play converting four of eight chances, while Charlotte is two of fourteen, 14.3%.

STEVE RYMSHA 2GP TEAM RECORD: 1-1-0 PTS: 2G 1A – 3PTS - Scored 100th career point
Steve Rymsha scored a goal in each of the last two games while also chipping in an assist this week. Rymsha also notched his 100th career point on Saturday night. His goal helped the Royals knock off the Richmond Renegades 3-2.

After being knocked out of Friday night's game in Johnstown in the first period, Sanger rebounded to stop 41 shots Saturday in Richmond to snap a Royals 3-game winless streak. The Madison Wisconsin native picked up his 12th win of the season.
