Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
LAST WEEK: Pee Dee went 1-2-0 on their northern swing, losing a pair of games at Trenton, before rebounding with a win at Atlantic City. The Pride are 27-14-5 for 59 points, and actually saw their lead over second-place Columbia increase to four points.
Friday, January 24 @ Trenton Titans 3 PRIDE 2
The Pride had a 1-0 lead through one period thanks to Mike Glumac's team-leading 25th goal of the season. Trenton scored two goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead, but a Greg Schmidt tally just three minutes into the third period tied it up. With just 3:27 left in regulation, Syl Apps got open down low, and beat Ron Vogel with the game winner.
Saturday, January 25 @ Trenton Titans 4 PRIDE 2
Despite outshooting Trenton 39-21, the Pride once again found themselves on the short end of the scoreboard, as Titans' netminder Cody Rudkowsky played a strong game between the pipes. Jason Robinson and Aaron Gates tallied the Pride goals, while Adam Edinger paced the Titans' offense with two goals and an assist.
Sunday, January 26 @ Atlantic City PRIDE 4 Boardwalk Bullies 3 (SO)
A power-play goal by Allan Sirois just 1:39 into the contest gave the Pride an early lead. But, the Boardwalk Bullies scored three times in a 6:29 span in the middle of the second period to take a two-goal lead. A big shorthanded goal by Gregor Krajnc with 40 seconds left in the second period gave the Pride some momentum, and Wes Goldie tied it 3:57 into the final period. The Pride went 3-for-5 in the shootout, while Ron Vogel stopped three of four shooters to clinch the win. Vogel made 33 saves for the game.
