Roanoke, Va. – Thursday Atlantic City managed to beat its toughest opponent, the Roanoke Express, in regulation by a final of 6-5. Tied at two after two periods, the Bullies and Express combined for seven goals in the third frame, with the Bullies coming out on top with contributions from numerous players.

Kevin Colley continued his five-game point-scoring streak with his 14th multiple-point game this season, notching the empty-net game winner and three assists. Colley now has nine points (3G,6A) against the Express this season.

Six Bullies, including Colley, finished the game with multiple points. Jim Henkel extended his point-scoring streak to 12 games with a goal and two assists. J.F. Caudron, and Kirk Furey each earned two points on a goal and an assist. Jade Galbraith, who was named the InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week for his six-point performance in two games last week, registered three points on a goal and two assists. Captain Stefan Rivard chipped in two assists, his first two-point game since November 30.

All-Star MVP Scott Stirling allowed five goals and made 21 saves, while Express netminder Sebastien LaPlante made 25 stops in the loss.

Charlotte, N.C. – Maybe the unseasonably frigid temperature in Charlotte kept the Bullies from playing up to par, but the Checkers got the best of the Atlantic City club, handing the Bullies just its second three-goal loss this season. Friday the Charlotte Checkers defeated the Boardwalk Bullies by a final of 4-1. Kevin Colley scored the Bullies' lone goal on a power play, extending his point-scoring streak to six games. Jim Henkel and Kirk Furey assisted on Colley's goal. Henkel now has a 13-game point-scoring streak with eight goals and 13 assists in his last 13 games. Matt Yeats suffered the loss in net, stopping 18 Charlotte shots.

Bullies Fall to Pride, 4-3, in Shootout Sunday, January 26, 2003

Pee Dee Pride 4 @ ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES 3 (shootout)

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – In its first matchup ever, the Pee Dee Pride defeated the Boardwalk Bullies, 4-3, in a shootout.

Up 3-1 near with 40 seconds left in the middle frame, the Pride turned on its offense. Pee Dee's Gregor Krajnc netted an unassisted short-handed goal to close the gap to one. Wes Goldie then tied the game at 3:57 in the third period.

Jim Henkel extended his point-scoring streak to 14 games with a second-period tally assisted by Stefan Rivard. J.F. Caudron scored his 20th goal of the year nearing the middle mark of the second period.

After a scoreless overtime, Pee Dee capitalized on three out of five attempts in the shootout to earn the win.

Pride goalie Ron Vogel earned the first star of the game, stopping 33 Bullies shots. Matt Yeats suffered his second loss this weekend, surrendering all four goals and making 27 saves.

BULLIES BITES

The Bullies remain atop the Northeast Division with a 26-9-10 record and 61 points in 45 games...Jade Galbraith is second in the league in scoring among rookies with 47 points (17G, 30A), is second in the league in assists among rookies with 30, and is fifth in the league in goals among rookies with 17...Jim Henkel is on a 14-game point scoring streak with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists in 14 games stretching from December 18, 2002 to January 26, 2003...Henkel is fifth in the league in scoring among rookies with 42 points (21G, 21A), is third in goals among rookies with 21, is tied for the league lead among rookies with three short-handed goals, and is second in the league among rookies in plus-minus with a plus-23.

ALL-STAR RECAP

Led by Bullies Head Coach Michael Haviland and Toledo Storm Head Coach Claude Noel, the Northern Conference All-Stars defeated the Southern Conference All-Stars, 8-2, in the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game on Tuesday night. Bullies netminder and Northern Conference starter Scott Stirling earned the Most Valuable Player award. Stirling shut out the Southern Conference, stopping all 11 shots he faced in the first period. Kevin Colley earned two assists and Jim Henkel chipped in a helper en route to the blowout win.

STIRLING GOES TO BRIDGEPORT

Friday the Bullies loaned goaltender Scott Stirling to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League. So far this season, Stirling has a 2.84 goals against average, a .908 save percentage, and a 15-3-4 record, including two shutouts. The call-up marks the fifth for the 25-year old netminder this season. Tuesday Stirling earned the Most Valuable Player award in the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game in Estero, Fla. The Hull, Mass., native started in goal for the Northern Conference squad and stopped all 11 shots he faced. Stirling was a Northern Conference All-Star in 2000-01, his rookie season. Stirling played 42 games with the Bullies last season, earning a 24-12-3 record, a 2.74 goals against average and a 0.918 save percentage. In eight playoff games, he earned six wins, including a three-game sweep of the Trenton Titans in the Northeast Division Finals, and posted a 0.944 save percentage and a 1.84 goals against average. In 2000-01, the 6-2, 205-pound netminder earned ECHL Goaltender and Rookie of the Year honors as a member of the Trenton Titans. That season Stirling posted a 32-10-3 record, a 0.922 save percentage, and a 2.14 goals against average.

COLLEY HEADS BACK TO SYRACUSE

Saturday the Bullies loaned right wing Kevin Colley to the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League. The All-Star forward continues to lead the Bullies in scoring with 59 points (27G, 32A), and penalty minutes with 152, in 41 games. Colley also leads the Bullies with 12 power-play goals, four game-winning tallies, and 14 multiple-point games. The 5-10, 175-pound forward is tied for seventh in the league in scoring, tied for second in the league in goals with 27, and is tied for fourth in the league in power-play goals with 12. Last season, the Collingwood, Ontario, split the season with the Bullies, notching 53 points (23G, 30A) and 90 penalty minutes in 41 games, and the AHL's Rochester Americans, tallying seven points (3G, 4A) and 70 penalty minutes in 25 games. In 2001-02, Colley also earned a call-up to the AHL's Providence Bruins, registering one assist and 27 penalty minutes in 4 games. His call-up to Syracuse is the second for the 24-year old this season. Prior to the All-Star break, Colley scored one goal in three games with Syracuse.

TRACKING CORAZZINI

Friday, January 17, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League recalled Bullies forward Carl Corazzini. With the Bullies, the speedy right wing had 21 points (13G,8A) in 27 games. Corazzini had five goals, including two game-winning tallies, in his last two games and earned 11 points (8G,3A) and was a plus-5 in his last 10 games. The Framingham, Mass., native joined the Bullies just in time for Opening Night, October 11, 2002, after participating in training camp with Providence. Last season, Corazzini registered 15 points (7G,8A) in 61 games with the P-Bruins. Corazzini has registered two goals in three games with the Bruins so far this season.

The Bullies take on the Titans for the eighth of ten regular season meetings. The Bullies clinched the Garden State Cup by defeating the Titans on Saturday, January 18, and are 5-0-2 against the Titans so far this year.

The Bullies meet the Chiefs for the second time this season. Atlantic City is 1-0-0 against Johnstown so far this year.

The Bullies face the Generals for the fourth time this year, and are 2-1-0 against its division rival this year.
