
Titans Hang On To Defeat Bullies 4-2

Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
Trenton, NJ â Scott Bertoli tallied a pair of assists and Jerramie Domish was credited with the game-winning goal to lead the Trenton Titans to a 4-2 victory over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies 4-2 before 1720 at Sovereign Bank Arena in Game 1 of the best-of-five North Division Semifinals of the 2005 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. Trenton leads the series 1-0.
Leon Hayward opened the scoring for Trenton when he collected Tim Judy's rebound in the slot and slapped the puck past Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig at 16:14 of the first period to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Trenton increased their lead with a pair of goals in the second period. On the power play, Brent Robinson took a cross-ice feed at the left-wing circle froM Bertoli and ripped a shot by Koenig at 3:57 to give the Titans a 2-0 advantage. Jerramie Domish made it 3-0 when his slap shot from the right-wing circle trickled off Koenig's right pad and rolled into the net at 10:15 of the period.
Atlantic City clawed to within a goal with a pair of tallies 51 seconds apart. Peter Bournazakis re-directed Derek Edwardson's one-timer from the slot through the pads of Trenton goaltender Andrew Allen at 6:25 of the third period on the power play to cut the deficit to 3-1. Fraser Clair made it 3-2 just 51 seconds later when he collected the loose puck sitting in the crease and banged it past an out of position Allen at 7:16. But the Titans regained their two-goal advantage when off a Bullies turnover, Bertoli found an open Nick Deschenes at the left-wing circle and Deschenes slapped the puck top shelf past Koenig at 11:25 to cap the scoring at 4-2.
Atlantic City and Trenton each recorded 36 shots on goal. Koenig turned aside 32 shots in suffering the loss. The Bullies went 1-7 on the power play.
New Jersey's ECHL rivalry continues on as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and the Trenton Titans meet in Game 2 of the best-of-five North Division Semifinals of the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs beginning at 7:30PM Friday at Sovereign Bank Arena. The Bullies return to Historic Boardwalk Hall to host Game 3 at 4:05PM on Sunday and, if necessary, Game 4 at 7:05PM on Tuesday, April 19.
