Rivermen Players to Take Part in Peoria Chiefs Batting Practice

Peoria, Ill. (April 13, 2005) – The Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that goaltender Alfie Michaud, center Tyler Rennette, and defensemen Chad Starling and Warren Toews will participate in Peoria Chiefs batting practice this afternoon – Wednesday, April 13 – at 4:00 p.m. at O'Brien Field.

The Chiefs (1-4) will host the Clinton (Ia.) LumberKings in the second game of a three-game set tonight. First pitch is scheduled 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $6 per seat and are available by 680-4008.

Chiefs Manager Julio Garcia is excited the Rivermen players will be joining his team for the afternoon.

"Even though I'm from Texas, I love hockey," Garcia remarked. "When I heard the guys were interested in coming down to take a few swings, I jumped at the chance to invite them. This will be a fantastic experience."

The Peoria Rivermen will become the proud primary affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the American Hockey League in the 2005-2006 season. Full season tickets are on sale now and start at $367, which includes an Early Bird discount. Interested fans may call 309.676.1040 x106.
