Rivermen Dazzle Opening Night Crowd with OT Thriller, 3-2

October 20, 2019 - Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen and Quad City Storm renewed the "Cold War on 74" to open the SPHL season in front of 5,321 fans at Carver Arena Saturday night. The Rivermen held a two-goal lead, but Quad City fought back to tie the game early in the third period before a stunning overtime goal by the Rivermen. The Rivermen opened the scoring just prior to the midway point of the opening period. Rivermen Announce Roster for Opening Night

October 17, 2019 - Peoria, IL - In accordance with the SPHL, the Peoria Rivermen have announced their 19 man roster for Wednesday's deadline as opening night approaches this Saturday. Jean-Guy Trudel has elected to roll 12 forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders to begin the 2019-20 regular season. While the league does set the roster limit to 19, coach Trudel will carry a 20th player (Drake Hunter) on a three game contract, which the league allows five of per season. Brodeur Highlights Recent Transactions as Deadline Approaches

October 16, 2019 - Peoria, IL - With the official SPHL 19 man rosters due to the league by Wednesday's end, the Peoria Rivermen announced several roster moves Tuesday evening. Among those transactions was the signing of goaltender Jeremy Brodeur, son of Hockey Hall of Fame goalie and longtime New Jersey Devil, Martin Brodeur. Coach Jean-Guy Trudel also signed forward Jordan Ernst, who spent time in both the ECHL and AHL a season ago. Rivermen Submit Sunday Roster Cuts

October 14, 2019 - Peoria, IL- Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel announced four roster cuts Sunday afternoon as the SPHL deadline required teams to be at no more than 22 players. Goaltender Brody Claeys, defenseman Oleg Shipitsyn, and forwards Trent Durocher and Jon Buttitta have been released from Rivermen training camp.
