Finley Named Athletic Trainer for Stingrays

November 20, 2020 - Peoria, IL - Peoria native and 2019-20 SPHL Athletic Trainer of the Year Max Finley has been named the new Athletic Trainer for the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL. Finley, 26, spent his first season in pro hockey with the Peoria Rivermen across the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season and was assigned to the team by Midwest Orthopaedic Center in Peoria, IL. October 7, 2020 - PEORIA - On Wednesday afternoon, longtime Rivermen defenseman Ben Oskroba announced his retirement from the game of hockey. The blue liner played in all seven seasons of the SPHL-era Rivermen to date, and currently sits fourth among games played by a defenseman in the team's 38 year franchise history. Peoria Rivermen Franchise to Sit out for 2020-21 Season

October 6, 2020 - PEORIA - The Peoria Rivermen announced today they will opt to sit out for the 2020-21 SPHL season. The State of Illinois is currently in Phase 4 of the "Restore Illinois" plan, which prohibits individuals from attending large gatherings, such as Rivermen Hockey games at Peoria Civic Center's Carver Arena without a proven vaccine or cure for COVID-19. Former Rivermen Defenseman Amburgey Dies at Age 29

August 30, 2020 - Peoria, IL - The Peoria Rivermen are incredibly saddened to learn that former defenseman Tyler Amburgey passed away on Sunday, August 30th. He is survived by his wife Aimee, Daughter Rylee, and the entire hockey community. Amburgey, a native of Rowlett, TX, enjoyed a successful junior playing career in the USHL, most notably with the Dubuque Fighting Saints where he captured a Clark Cup with the team in 2010-11.
