Texas Wildcatters News Release
BEAUMONT, TX (April 13, 2005) â The Texas Wildcatters announced today that they will not be renewing the contract of Head Coach Robert Dirk for next season. An extensive search will begin immediately to fill the vacancy.
The Wildcatters completed the 2004-2005 season with a record of 17-44-11, finishing sixth in the Southern Division. After a late-season roster shakeup, the team responded with four wins in their last five games at Ford Arena. Dirk, who was named the first coach in team history on April 28, 2003, compiled a 39-88-17 record in two seasons with the Wildcatters.
"We concluded that it would be in the organization's best interest for the team and Robert to move in a new direction," stated Wildcatters owner Rick Adams. "We appreciate his work behind the bench over the last two seasons and the contributions Robert and his family have made to our community. Robert is a consummate professional and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."
"I respect the organization's decision to go in a new direction and I think it's best for me personally and professionally to get a fresh start as well," said Dirk. "I would like to thank the Southeast Texas community for the support they have shown over the past two seasons to me, my family and the team."
Season tickets for the 2005-2006 season are now on sale. For as little as $75.00, you can reserve your seat for the third year of Wildcatters hockey in Southeast Texas. Season ticket holders enjoy the same great seats for all 36 home games without waiting in line at the box office. Expanded season ticket benefits are on tap for next season including free merchandise and more savings than ever before. In addition, free parking, merchandise discounts, a ticket exchange program and a meet and greet party with the team are some of the many returning benefits of being a season ticket holder.
