
Condors Parley Takes Saver Award

Bakersfield, Calif. - The ECHL office announced today that Bakersfield goaltender Davis Parley has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for April 4-9. He is the second Condor to receive the honor in 2004-05, joining Randy Petruk, who was the first Reebok Hockey Saver of the Week on October 26.
The 6-2 and 190-pound Parley went 2-0-0 with a 3.00 goals-against average and .913 save percentage against defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho as Bakersfield clinched its first-ever Kelly Cup Playoffs berth. Parley stopped 38 shots in a 5-3 win on April 8, giving the Steelheads their first loss in regulation in 19 games, and made 25 saves in a 4-3 win on April 9.
Since being acquired in a trade with Texas on March 24, the 22-year-old Parley is 3-2-1 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .922 save percentage with Bakersfield. Parley suffered the loss last night in Game 1 of the Condors first round Kelly Cup Playoff match up against the National Conference Champion Alaska Aces. He was 5-13-7 with a 3.50 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 27 games with the Wildcatters.
The Surrey, British Columbia native played his first professional season in 2003-04 with Texas in 2003-04, posting an 18-29-3 record with one shutout, a 3.89 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage in 52 games. He made 63 saves at Pensacola on January 2, 2004, tying him for the third- most saves in an ECHL game, and finished second in the league with 1,767 saves.
Selected in the fourth round (120th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Parley was 80-61-10 with a 3.05 goals-against average in four seasons with Kamloops of the Western Hockey League from 1999-2003.
The Condors and Aces meet again in Game 2 on Wednesday night at 8:15 p.m. (PST). Game 3 will take place on Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will get a Condors Rolling Blackout t- shirt, and all fans should wear black to the game to participate in the blackout. The first round of the playoffs is sponsored by KGET-TV 17, The Big 96.5 and U.S. Army.
Game 4, if necessary, will be on Saturday, April 16th at the Rabobank Arena. That night Bakersfield native and American Idol star Amy Adams will be singing the National Anthem as well as performing during the first intermission. She will be available for photos and autographs as well.
