The Shaving Continues...

Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif.- The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League have continued their current winning streak, and members of the front office are showing their support of the work on the ice.

The movement has been spurred on by the actions of Head Coach Paul Kelly. He had promised his team, prior to beginning a three-game weekend on November 8th in Fresno, that he would shave his head if they won all three games. The Condors swept the two-game set in Fresno on Friday and Saturday, both by the score of 2-1, and picked up a 4-2 win on Sunday against first-place Idaho.

He made good on that promise last Thursday, having his head shaved and bleached as well. Feeling the inertia of the current winning streak, Assistant GM Chris Freshour commenced the head-shaving spread to the front office. With the two wins this weekend, Freshour and Condors Director of Community Relations John Ayre have volunteered for the clipping.

"We're excited about what is going on with the team on the ice," Freshour said. "We'll show our support by having a member of the front office shave their head for every consecutive win we put up. John and I will set the tone this week.

Should the Condors pick up a victory over Long Beach at Centennial Garden on Saturday night, Deric Voelker, the director of team operations, is next in line. It will continue through the front office roster, concluding with President & GM Matthew Riley and then Owner Jonathan Fleisig.

"In addition to the play on the ice, I also have to commend our front office staff for all volunteering to have their head shaved prior to me," shouted Condors President & GM Matthew Riley over the hum of the electric clippers. "Of course, if we are able to put together a streak of 15 games, I may have to hire more employees to postpone the razor seeing my scalp.

"Although the thought of seeing our front office employees bald frightens me a little, I love the support," said Coach Kelly. "It really shows that on the ice or in the office, we have a real team atmosphere here. And I must admit, it's an extra incentive for us to keep playing well.

All games can be heard live on the Condors flagship station, KGEO AM 1230, beginning with "Condors Countdown" 15 minutes before game time.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
