Bombers Go 1-2 in Week's Action

BOMBERS GO 1-2 IN WEEK'S ACTION, SEASON-LONG HOME STAND CONTINUES: The Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team (6-8-2) went 1-2 this past week in three games against Northern Conference foes, two on home ice. The Bombers will continue Nutter Center play with four more games as part of their season-long, six-game home stand, including a weekend "3-in-3" beginning this Friday.

Below is a recap of this past week's games:

11/12/02- BOMBERS 1 @ Trenton 5

The Trenton Titans scored three times on the power play and outshot the Bombers 11-1 in the second period en route to the win, which snapped the Bombers six-game (4-0-2) regulation unbeaten streak. Daniel Tetrault, David Schneider, and Adam Edinger scored with the man advantage for Trenton, while Kent Davyduke and Matt Zultek added the other goals. Fred Slukynsky scored the lone' Bombers goal in the first period.

11/15/02 Wheeling 3 @ BOMBERS 6

The Dayton Bombers blitzed the Nailers 52-23 in the shot department and, with the help of a four-goal, 26-shot third period, topped the team from Wheeling, West Virginia, 6-3. The Bombers improved to 3-0 this season against the Nailers. Andrew Williamson (PP), Mike Renzi, Fred Slukynsky, and Chris M. Thompson (PP) were involved in the four-goal, third period spurt that help the Bombers break a 2-2 tie to go up 6-2. Ben Knopp and Andrew Ianiero also tallied for the Bombers, while goalie Andrew Allen registered 20 saves en route to his third straight win. Williamson also added two assists for his team. Brian Cummings, Chris McNamara (PP), and T.J. Reynolds (PP) scored for Wheeling.

11/16/02 Toledo 4 @ BOMBERS 2

Toledo capitalized on its offensive chances in a 4-2 victory over the Bombers at the Nutter Center. Alexander Jacques recorded a hat trick for the Storm, while linemate Dale Junkin had a goal and two assists. Nathan Robinson, the other member of the line, contributed with two assists. Jamie Ling and Andrew Ianiero recorded power play goals for the Dayton Bombers, who outshot Toledo 41-29, but fell to defeat.

BOMBER BITES: The Bombers are 5-2-2 in their last nine games ... Goalie Shane Bendera saw a 2-0-1, regulation unbeaten streak come to an end November 12 at Trenton ... Goalie Andrew Allen has won three straight and is 3-0-1 in his last four starts after starting the season 0-4 ... F Andrew Ianiero has averaged a point per game (5 GP, 3-2-5) since he was added to the roster November 8 ... F Ben Knopp has five points (1-4-5) in his last five games. He scored his first professional goal on Friday (11/15) vs. Wheeling ... F Jamie Ling has four points in his last four games (1-3-4) ... After not scoring a goal in a month, C Fred Slukynsky scored goals in consecutive games 11/12 and 11/15 ... F Chris M. Thompson leads the Bombers in assists (9) and points (13) ... The Bombers were 4 for 10 on the power play in their weekend home games, with two scores in each contest ... This weekend, the Bombers will be continuing a stretch of six straight home games (with games three, four, and five) and seven of eight at the Ervin J. Nutter Center to conclude November action. All of the remaining November games are against divisional foes.

Friday, November 22 vs. Lexington Men O'War (7:30 p.m.) (7:15 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com- "Listen Live Section"- in association with www.sportsjuice.com) The Dayton Bombers will try to bounce back from a pair of October losses to this first-year team in a home game at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. The Bombers lost 2-1 at home to Lexington on October 25, then fell 2-0 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky a day later. The Bombers play Lexington a total of ten times this season, six at the Nutter Center and four in Lexington. These two clubs meet again at the Nutter Center on Thanksgiving, November 28 (7:30 p.m.).

Saturday, November 23 vs. Wheeling Nailers (7:30 p.m) (7:15 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com- "Listen Live Section"- in association with www.sportsjuice.com) The Bombers will hope to continue their fine play against Wheeling this season in the teams' fourth head-to-head clash. The Bombers are 3-0 against Wheeling this season and have outshot the Nailers 129-78 in the three games combined. The Bombers will welcome Miss Ohio Tiffany Haas at this game. She will sing the National Anthem.

Sunday, November 24 vs. Johnstown Chiefs (6:00 p.m) (5:45 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com- "Listen Live Section"- in association with www.sportsjuice.com) This game marks another Kids' Club Sunday presented by Capn' Bogeys. There will also be a post-game skate with the players (NO PRE-GAME SKATE). The Bombers will look for their first victory against the Chiefs this season (0-2-1). They hope to rebound from a pair of four-goal (5-1, 6-2) home defeats to Johnstown in October.
