Team Begins Five Game Road Trip This Weekend

Pee Dee Tuesday, November 19 7:00 North Charleston Coliseum

This is the third game this season between the South Carolina Stingrays and the Pee Dee Pride. The Pride is in a three-way tie for second place with a record of 9-3-2 and 20 points. Pee Dee is tied with Columbus and Columbia for second. The Stingrays have handled the Pride in each of the first two meetings 5-4 in shootouts at the Florence Civic Center. Tonight's game is the first of the season series in Charleston.

First game ever between these two teams. Reading is in fifth place in the Northeast Division. The Royals are 4-4-1 at home this season. Reading bought its franchise rights from the Columbus Chill, which was 4-0-1 against the Stingrays.

Second game of a home and home series. Stingrays are 5-0 on the road. Reading is in fifth place in the Northeast Division. The Royals are 4-4-1 at home this season. Dave Lohrei is in his first season behind the bench for the Royals.

Last Week in Review:

The Stingrays went 2-1 last week. The team started the week with a win over the Columbus Cottonmouths 5-4 on Tuesday night at the Coliseum. Matt Desrosiers had the game winner for the Stingrays in the teams third win this season against Columbus. On Friday, the Rays won their fifth consecutive road game by topping Pee Dee 5-4 in a shoot out in Florence. Saturday the team lost its fourth home game in six tries 5-3 against Columbia.

Team Notes:

The Stingrays have lost four out or their last six games at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Rays are the only team in the ECHL that remains undefeated on the road (5-0). Four of the Rays five road wins have come in overtime or shootout. The team's home record is 6-4. Stingray's special teams have not been special at home ranking 15th on the power play and the penalty kill. Overall the Rays power play ranks fifth in the league at 23.2%. The Rays penalty kill is 16th at 80.6. The Rays are outscoring their opponents 17-7 in the third period. The Stingrays will play seven out of their next nine games on the road.

Players:

Adam Calder leads the Stingrays in goals and points. He has seven goals and 18 points on the season. Kirk Daubenspeck leads the ECHL in wins with 10. Four of his wins have come in shootouts and one has come in overtime. Brent Henley leads the ECHL in penalty minutes with 119. Aaron Schneekloth is the Stingrays leading rookie scorer. The defenseman has two goals and nine assists for 11 points.
